Dr Braydon Meyer

Dr Braydon Meyer is an early-career postdoctoral research officer at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research and a conjoint lecturer at the University of New South Wales.

Braydon completed his honours in the epigenetics of juvenile idiopathic arthritis and PhD in paediatric acute myeloid leukaemia relapse prediction at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (VIC) under the supervision of Prof Richard Saffery, Dr Justine Ellis, and A/Prof Paul Ekert.

In 2020, Braydon moved to Sydney to join the Cancer Epigenetics Laboratory of Prof Susan Clark to work on the epigenetics of breast cancer and rare tumours. Working with A/Prof Clare Stirzaker and Dr Ruth Pidsley, Braydon has shown that DNA methylation can predict patient outcomes in response to chemotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer and also how we can use it to determine tumour determination for rare tumours that are morphologically similar to more common counterparts.

His current research, funded by the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) aims to use epigenetic therapy as a priming agent to re-sensitise patients to standard of care therapy in triple-negative breast cancer.
